I've been having a lot of fun playing it, and they're having a free weekend, so check it out.

Even if you suck at the mechanics, it lets you get straight to the mind games. And if your knowledge is already good, then you get to learn a character in 5 minutes and get straight to the matchup knowledge.

Other Game Sign-ups / Hearthstone Exhibition Sign Ups
« on: February 28, 2017, 09:27:41 am »
Looking to get 6 to 8 people to sign up for hearthstone, so we can do a 3v3 or 4v4 exhibition.

Looking to do it Friday, March 10th at 6:30 PM PST. Am flexible on the date and time.

I'm open to suggestions on format, I liked the way we did it last time where each one of the matches had a different rules restriction, so we could do it like this:

Match 1: Standard
Match 2: Wild
Match 3: Whatever that weeks tavern brawl is
Match 4: Standard
Match 5: Tie Breaker Wild Match

Each player has to play at least once, beyond that we can do other restrictions. We can do like "Each class can only be played once" or "No card may be used in more than one deck for each team" etc. We could do a no legendary or epic match, a no classic/basic card match, even have a class draft ahead of time where the two teams take turns drafting the 9 classes until we have 4 classes vs 4 classes unique showdown, and just do a last man standing pokemon type format.

So if anybody has any strong opinions about the format we should use, let's do something fun

Welcome Cobalt, the first dead.

Sucks your power got shut down. Synonym has this power:

Synonym: (Balanced by Godonic)
From n0, all roles are negated while I'm alive and instead only receive the response "Jesus wept" from the gm.

Also 2 players have already won but their win condition keeps them in the game anyway

Old Game Threads / Choose your own Mafia!: Night 4, Double Kill!
« on: May 16, 2016, 11:58:33 am »
Welcome to Pimp Willy's triumphant return to Mafia GMing, with a game he's been cooking up for a few years! No, not breaking bad mafia...Choose your own mafia!

General Idea
This is a game of deception, where there are two groups fighting for the win, the Civilians and the Mafia. During the day phases, players must vote on which player should be "Lynched," aka strung up and killed. At night, the mafia gets to kill any player of their choice. The civilians win if they eliminate all the mafia; the mafia win if they equal or outnumber the civs. There is also the third party players this game; they have their own agendas and win/lose based on different criteria, and count for neither side.

There are two phases: Day and Night. During Day, all players deliberate and submit a vote on a player. The player with the most votes is lynched and eliminated from the game. During Night, the Mafia deliberate to kill and eliminate a player from the game. The Civilians win the game once all Mafia have been eliminated. The Mafia win the game once their numbers are equal to half or more of all remaining players.

Most games of mafia are carefully crafted so that every role serves a purpose and must play correctly to help your team win.

This is not one of those games. In this game, players are making up their own roles, with the intent on being so powerful and broken that nobody else could possibly defeat you. This game is not balanced, nor is it intended to be balanced; that is up to the players. This game is more focused on fun.

Roles
Roles are secret, as each player designed their own role.

Overview of the design:
Extremely chaotic. Peoples powers stepping on other peoples powers, which all struggling to be the most powerful.

Phases
One whole cycle (Day and Night) will amount to 48 hours. The Day phase will last 36 hours, starting from 10:00 AM PDT and ending at 10:00 PM PDT the following day. The Night phase will last 12 hours, starting from 10:00 PM PDT and ending at 10:00 AM PDT the following morning.

Posting is allowed during all phases.

Voting
Voting will be done using Votebot. Simply vote for your person using the v tag
Code: [Select]
[v]Pimp Willy[/v]
The vote bot tally is absolute, so if you mess it up then you are responsible for not having a correct vote.

Elimination
Once you have been lynched or killed, you may no longer post in the game thread. Your allegiance and role will also be revealed. There will be no last gasps in this game.

Disqualification
Missing a vote will result in a warning. Missing a second vote will DQ you from the game.

1) Alpha
2) DrWilgy
3) JasonC

Welcome, to the two brave souls who decides to join the Mafia Team!

@ForgeDigger and @Cobalt

Here are your abilities:

ForgeDigger: (Yogg-Saron)
Enforcer (Each night, can select a player. If that player submits an action that night, it is negated. No public announcement when enforced.)
Shuffle Ability (At night,  all night-ability targets are shuffled and all abilities are forced to be used.)

Cobalt: (Ragnaros)

Immolation blows up any player that uses any kind of investigation on my role
Shadow Knowledge learns full list of town roles and abilities at the start of the game

(Cobalt didn't give a name/theme for his role so I assigned it : P)

You guys can use this thread to make your night actions, you still get a kill every night per normal mafia games in addition to your powers, so choose wisely!

This is the JTM Anything goes game. What makes this game different from other mafia formats is that it is up to you, the player, to come up with the craziest most overpowered role you can think of.

If regular mafia is like Street Fighter, think of this game as Marvel vs Capcom. No matter what crazy power you come up with, somebody else is likely going to have something crazier.

There are three categories of roles you can submit. Note that your win condition is static depending on the role you choose:

Mafia:
Choose 2 abilities to have.
Mafia players all know eachother, and win when they outnumber all the remaining players in the game (barring any special abilities or win conditions of other players)

Civilians:
Choose 1 ability to have
Civs don't know eachother, and win when all mafia is dead (barring any special abilities or win conditions of other players)

Third Party:
Choose 1 ability to have
Can come up with an alternate win condition other than the two groups above.

Those are the basic guidelines. Here are some more specific rules. Note its impossible to cover all these cases, so in those cases final approval and rulings are up to the GM (me), and in such a crazy game mistakes are bound to be made. We'll just have to roll with it.

-Abilities must be technically possible by the forum software! I.e. being able to read any PM a player sends is not really feasible given the forum setup.
-GM has final approval on all abilities, and the abilities will be locked down once the game starts.
-Abilities which do not further the game and just serve to prevent it from ending will not be approved; i.e. an ability that allows the user to extend the day/night phase timers indefinitely.
-You can call your role whatever you want and tie it to any character you want from anything. Even shitty anime.
-Mafia cannot have invulnerable roles that prevent the game from ending, but they can have stuff that lets them stay in the game and use abilities

Some random thoughts on abilities to get you thinking:

Civ Roles
Start with a list of the mafia names
Whenever you vote on somebody, learn their allegience
When somebody targets you at night, kill them
Gain a kill every night, unlimited stocks
You cannot be killed
You appear to be mafia at the start of the game, and join the mafia chat despite being a civilian

Mafia Roles
If a player would ever learn a name from an ability, show a random name instead
At the end of a vote, kill every player who voted against you
Gain a kill every night, unlimited stocks
Gain a kill every day, unlimited stocks
Always investigate innocent
Gain a list of all the roles in the game
Gain a list of what each players roles are

Third Party
If you die, you win the game
If somebody uses the word "Salty" you win the game
If Alpha votes Fuzz day 1, win the game
Choose a codeword. If that person quotes you and uses that word, you and that person win the game.

Be as creative/broken as you want. But remember I have final say; unless I can see some counter play, it will be denied. I.e. "Civ: At the start of the game, kill all mafia"

For now, you can choose your allegience. If we don't get enough people wanting to cover all the roles, we will reroll with balanced rosters. But Im hoping we get a nice spread.

PM Me when you sign up and we can discuss your role.

Mafia General / Mafia Championship Season 3: JTM Invited Again
« on: March 28, 2016, 10:18:41 pm »
PogChamp

So, we've been invited again to the Mafia Championship. Time for us to find our representative.

Heres the info as sent by @Thingyman

Invitation to The Mafia Championship Season 3

Hello everyone, it’s that time of the year again :)

I am making this post with the hopes that your community would be interested in participating in Season 3 of the Mafia Championship. It will be bigger and more epic than ever before.

This year we’re expanding once again; 136 communities will be invited to participate, making this not only the biggest Mafia event ever, but also the largest cross-forum event in the history of the Internet. We’ve also moved the venue to Mafia Universe, a new site created largely because of this series.

Are you interested?

As always, how you decide your representative is completely up to you. To guarantee your community a spot in Season 3 of the Mafia Championship, I will need to know of your community's interest within the next week (until April 4th). Following this, you will have an additional two weeks to decide your nominee (until April 18th). Additionally, it would be a very good idea to also name an alternate.

Remember that your representative needs to be prepared to deal with a lot of activity. Expect at least upwards of 500 posts per 24 hours during the early stages of the game. The representative needs to not only be able to read all this, but should also at least be able to manage making 10+ posts per day phase.

Season 3 Specifics

• 136 different communities are invited to participate. If some decline the invitation, I may opt to allow larger communities an additional nominee.
• 8 Qualifying Games will be played with 17 players each.
• 2 players advance to the Finale Game from each game based on post-game votes.
• 1 Wildcard Game will be played (Wildcards are decided by a jury consisting of former finalists), determining the 17th and final spot in the Finale. Runner-ups in this game will be first in line to replace any finalists who may have to drop out.

Season 3 Timeline & Important Dates

The first Qualifying Game is set to start April 25th. Additional games will take place in the 1-3 months following. I will create a Doodle and find out the best times to start the various games so that preferably everyone gets to play during a time that suits them well.

In addition to this, it is also a priority to ensure as much as possible that all the players in any given game has no prior history of playing with each other to ensure a level playing field (but I cannot 100% guarantee that this won’t happen).

Season 3 Game Design & Setup

For each season, we’ve changed it up. This time, we’re doing something new again!

The setup is called Matrix12 and is inspired by mafiascum’s popular Matrix6 setup, if any of you are familiar with that. In short, the concept is that there are 12 different possible setups and the host randomizes which one is used. The players know what setups are available, but not which one will be used!

More on the setup here: http://www.mafiauniverse.com/forums/threads/1374-Setup-Discussion-Matrix12-%28Proposed-Season-3-Format%29

Regarding lynch mechanics: There will be a deadline each day phase, and the person with the most votes at the end of the day is lynched, unless a majority has already been reached before then, in which case the day ends prematurely.

Days will last 36 hours and nights 12 hours, meaning 48 hours (2 days) per game day. With one exception: The weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) will be one game day (so day will be 60 hours and night 12 hours on weekends).

Mafia General / Welcome to our new Host!
« on: October 20, 2015, 09:04:46 am »
Okay, so Pimp Willy might have made a mistake. When it was time to transfer, I took a snapshot of the old database and uploaded it to the new database, so that it would feel like nothing was missed with the move.

Only I fucked up.

I snapshotted the NEW database and copied it over the old database. Effectively sending the past week or two of posts into the abyss for all time.

But we are fine moving forward. So enjoy the new site, with less downtime, logout issues, and more power than ever!

General Discussion / Happy 1 year anniversary! Possible Host Move
« on: October 05, 2015, 08:53:41 am »
Hey Guys, just wanted to share whats up

Our host went down for over 12 hours yesterday. They offered us no notice, no explanation, and no response to support tickets. Checking facebook, twitter, etc reveals dozens of people all complaining about the same thing.

Our contract is up in 15 days. I see no need to renew with our current provider, we've had a multitude of outages over the last year, issues on their end affecting us without notice (like our sessions timing out randomly), and periods where our server is running so slow that it loads us terribly.

I am currently looking at different options for hosts. Hopefully there should be zero downtime when we do move, but there is the slight issue that there might be. I think maybe we need to hold off on any games that would last across the cutoff time, as that would likely just throw a huge wrench into things.

Most of us are in the same SRK league I believe; @kaz @Missing Person @Bious @Fruit Punch Samurai G Did I miss anybody?

Lol I feel like this season has been a clusterfuck, so hard to predict anything. In both my leagues I had Benjamin sitting the bench at 30 points. Ugh.

Going into tonight with a comfortable lead, like 12 points, with 2 to play each. Come on Ivory, have a solid night.

In my other league I lost like 42 to 92. Not even close. lol. White put up 0, Hude only 5, Miller only 3, Graham only 1 and Lynch only 6. So sad. If I had switched white for Amari, Smith, or Benjamin (all on my bench) I'd have a chance with Luck tonight. But nope. Im fucked. haha.

As far as SRK league goes... Im looking to bump up to 2-0.

Just figured I'd create a thread, I have a very intense love relationship with D3 where when a new season starts, I play it an unhealthy amount, and then scale back once I burn out. And thats fine : )

Season 4 starts August 28th, if you are thinking about getting into it, this is the best time to do it. The next patch is adding a ton of new content; but if you're not used to Diablo at all, just know its really addicting and fun and fast paced

Anybody try this out? The cannon brothers (Guys behind evo) are devs, having created GGPO technology along with a single game in their past (Stonehearth). So now they're trying their hand at a fighting game.

The game is... interesting. Its like, babbys first fighting game. Well, maybe second, with Divekick being first.

You have 3 attack buttons (L, M, H), and then 3 special move buttons. Thats right, buttons. No motions, charging, anything. Just 3 buttons, each launches a special move. And then that special move goes on cooldown for a bit. Supers are done with 1 button as well, as are throws.

The fighters are giant robots, and one of the more interesting things is the ability to swap out your special moves. Right now each character just has 1 swappable move, but it lets your customize the characters in interesting ways. I was playing a grappler bot, and I had 2 choices for one slot: a magnetic pull that sucked people in, or a shoulder charge that closed distance.

Havent played much of it, but it is still a really early alpha. I feel like the control scheme might hold the game back, but we'll see.

You can sign up for the alpha at the website

Welcome to the signups for the first hearthstone league season for Jesus Toast Mafia!

To start, since we are welcoming new players to the game, we are running a "Pauper" type format. This means there are restrictions on the cards you can choose for your deck. For this season, we are only allowing Basic, Common, and Rare cards to be as part of your deck; Epics and Legendaries are going to be completely non-allowed. This is because we are going to try to get some new players interested in playing, and so its much easier to get started on a more even playing field.

That being said, we are doing a fairly unique format.

Format
Groups
4 man groups
4 groups
We will be splitting players up, into 4 man groups. Within those groups, 2 players will advance to the single elimination bracket round, and the lowest 2 people will be eliminated. Players within the group are paired randomly in a best 2 out of 3 match. The 2 winners of the first match play each other, and the winner of that match advanced out of the group in first place. The loser of that match waits while the losers of the first match play; the loser of that match is eliminated in 4th place. Then the 2 remaining players play, with the winner advancing out of the group in second place, and the loser eliminated with 3rd place.

(image trying to explain it)

I am aiming to get 16 players to sign up, which would make 4 groups of 4; if we don't hit that number, thats fine, we can do wildcard matches to fill spots as needed.

Switching to standard double elim bracket

Decks
Players will submit 1 deck before their group stage match. The deck will consist of 30 cards, and can only use basic, common, and rare cards. All Epics and Legendaries are banned for this first tournament.

In addition, players are allowed a 6 card sideboard; Before each game, the players may switch out any of the cards between their deck and sideboard. Players will be aware of their opponents class before they are allowed to choose to make changes.

Players can submit a new deck between each round; 1 deck for group stages, 1 deck for round of 8, 1 deck for round of 4, and 1 deck for the finals will use this deck for the entire tournament

Match Times and Streaming
We will dedicate a time and a night for each group to play. Most likely, 1 night a week. I plan to spectate and stream all the matches on the Jesus Toast Mafia twitch channel, hopefully with a co-host. Details to follow later. I want to pick a time that is viable for all players across all time zones, but as we are potentially global, it might be hard.
Tournament will start at 8:00 PM PDT on Friday, May 22nd. It will be streamed at www.twitch.tv/jesustoastmafia

Games will be played on the US server

Prize
Besides pride, I am putting up a $20 battle.net gift card to the winner of the tournament, to expand their card collection

NinSheetMusic is a collection of Nintendo (and some non-Nintendo) sheet music for piano. All of the music is arranged by members of the site. We also have forums where members can request and submit sheets, or just discuss games, music, and anything else.

Because, clearly, this is referring to Nine Inch Nails.

Oh God, my head.

I quit the internet if someone actually registered ninsheetmusic as a website and it is not in reference to NIN.

RIP MP, quitting the internet before the latest mafia game even gets started

Old Game Threads / Breaking Bad Mafia, GAME OVER: CIVS and SKYLER win!
« on: March 09, 2015, 07:49:51 am »
Welcome to Pimp Willy's triumphant return to Mafia GMing, with a game he's been cooking up for a few years! Breaking Bad Mafia! Lets replay one of the most intense scenarios from the show, and see if things go differently with you in control...

Roles
Gus Fring and Walter White will be chosen randomly to start. Walter White will then get to choose one remaining player to be Jesse Pinkman. The rest of the roles will then be randomly assigned to the players. Certain roles will have abilities that may be used during the appropriate phases.

Given Roles:

Spoiler for Third Party:

Roleless Civilians were given the following PM:
Spoiler for Roleless PM:
Quote
You are a roleless civilian

If you wish to die as a specific character, you can let me know your preference

Spoiler for Ability Priority List:
Mike > Gomez > Saul > Twins > Jesse/Mafia Leader Kill > Hank

Overview of the design:
The main theme going here is the power struggle within the mafia faction. Though the mafia has a higher percentage than usual of players, there is a fight between two people over leadership. The leader, Gus, must outlive Walter in order to win the game. Walter, on the other hand, must have Gus killed in order to win. Even though they are both mafia, really Walter is his own subfaction within the mafia. The other 3 mafia, Jesse, Saul, and Mike don't really have any reason to support Walters conquest to get Gus Killed, and instead must focus on keeping Walter in Check. Walter has 1 ally, Jesse; Jesse eventually earns 1 stock, and can use it to kill at night. Jesse is also hand picked by Walter White, possibly leading to a sense of friendship/respect between the two... or is it a relationship based on manipulation? Jesse can use his kill to help Walter achieve his victory and kill Gus, meanwhile Mike can use his Enforce to keep Jesse in check. But is putting that much focus on the team going to help, when you have serial killers and detectives looking for your head?

On the civ side, you have the typical Detective and Nurse combo, to sniff out the mafia and protect your players from being killed. And then theres good old Hector, strapped with a bomb, ready to kill anybody who dares to kill him at night. Mafia has to be on their toes with EVERY night kill, because it could be their last. They have to capitalize on the Mafias Power Struggle to identify, and lynch, the Mafia and reduce their power. If they are not careful, the game could be over quickly...

Which brings us to the third parties. Skylar is Walters Husband, and as such knows his identity, and knows what he is up to. As they are both in Danger from Gus, she wants to protect her husband and help him get Gus killed. If Walter dies, she dies too. However, once Walter takes over leadership, she wins and leaves the game. She is a nuisance to Gus, a helper to Walter, and potentially can help or hinder the civilian cause depending on what suits her

And then we have the Salamanca Twins, nephews to Hector. They've come up from Mexico with a vengeance, to kill Walter White, Hank Schrader, and Gus Fring. Nothing else matters to these cold blooded killers, not the politics of the struggle or the fight for good vs evil. They leave only a trail of bodies in their wake, and win only if Walter, Hank and Gus die before they do.

The game is basically a trial of Controlled Chaos, and I am excited to see where it takes us.

Voting
Votes must be submitted via PM using the following method: Lynch Player. Bold and Underline so I can see it if possible, but not required as I know it can be a pain on mobile. No Lynch is a valid voting option. Votes may not be changed once submitted.

Elimination
Once you have been lynched or killed, you may no longer post in the game thread. Your allegiance and role will also be revealed. There will be no last gasps in this game.

Disqualification
Missing a vote will result in a warning. Missing a second vote will DQ you from the game.

Spoiler for Missing Person's Common Sense Rules:
1. Do not PM anyone playing the game. If you are mafia, keep your talk in the mafia conversation. If you're one of the lovers, keep your chat inside the Lovers conversation. You should not be PMing anyone. If you have any questions regarding gameplay, PM me. If someone PMs you that shouldn't be, do not mention it in the thread, just PM me with the the contents of it. PM'ing once will result in a DQ. Habitually doing so will result in a ban. (Things not game related will not result in any penalty, but to keep the integrity of the game, if someone playing PMs you, please report it to me.)

2. No coaching after you're dead. This includes outside of SRK. I don't care what format you're thinking of using, be it Battle.net, AIM, MSN, Skype, Smoke Signals, Texts, Morse Code. Don't do it. Also, because this has happened recently, I will not verify any of your hunches after you die. Keep it to yourself, take it to the Loser's Lounge, if someone shares information they know, don't bring it to anyone else's attention that's still in the game. If someone does this, PM me with the proof, and that person will face a ban.

3. No discussing or plotting to break or bend the rules in your private conversations, lovers and mafia. I'll be in those conversations anyway, so that should go without saying. But just in case you think you can do it while I'm sleeping, think again. If you start discussing something that I don't immediately catch, and that action is taken, once I find out, the perpetrator of the act and the instigator will both receive bans and DQs.

4. Do not try to get removed from the game after it already starts, or try to break the rules to get DQ'd. If something super unexpected happens, I'll try to be reasonable, but overall, if you know you're going to be busy, and unable to play at all, don't sign up. If you suddenly see a full schedule hit your plate just before we start, ask me to take your name off the list, and I'll put in an alternate. After we start, I'm not going to take your name off unless you have a really good reason, and I can find an alternate to take your place. Otherwise, don't deliberately break a rule just to get a DQ. You will not just get a DQ, but banned.

5. Do not post any PMs, even as a joke. If you are going to make an image joke regarding PMs, at least make it obvious that it's a joke (e.g. make it using MSPaint.)

6. English only in game. No foreign languages or encrypted posts are allowed. This prevents the open flow of information. I will make certain exceptions for certain foreign words that have entered the English vernacular, such as "Hasta la vista," or "Por que?" but an entire post in a foreign language will not be permitted.

7. No making wagers in game. This wagering SRK accounts or self-bans is not going to fly anymore, period. Don't do it, I will DQ you if you do.

8. Cut the personal attacks out.  There is a line between in-game shit talk and gamesmanship, and just being a dickhead and being hateful toward other players.  This is starting to get out of hand.  If I tell you to curb it, just do it.  Keep it up, and enjoy a DQ.

General Discussion / Weird Fucking Dream
« on: November 11, 2014, 03:25:53 pm »
Last night, I had a dream that @Tao Te Ching tracked me down from identifying information on the board, and started to hang out across the street from me in a park. He'd constantly shine a laser pointer into my house and onto me/my family. Then he'd message me and say "Are you wearing the green shirt or the brown shirt?" Because me and my brother had different colored shirts on. Then my wife was changing, standing topless in our bedroom, and the damn laser pointer started circling her boobs, and she got freaked out and pissed off. And everytime I looked at the park, I could never tell who it was actually using the laser pointer.

I have no idea why I remembered the dream so vividly, but I had to share

So, I bought and beat GTA5 last year on 360, but it really taxed my system. So much that it froze occasionally, and always when playing online. For that reason, I'm excited to get it on PS4 and finally play online!

So, anybody else going to pick it up at launch for PS4?

Im trying to convince @Vynce since I know he has a PS4, but anybody else?

Heres a video to hype you, a newly announced first person mode for the game:

Ok, so to test this shit, I'm setting up a test game.

2 people have been chosen as mafia
2 people have been chosen as lovers
2 people have been chosen as roleless
1 person is the vigilante (unlimited kills)

@Alpha @ForgeDigger @GodotsRevenge @Missing Person @RadicalFuzz @Synonym @Vynce

Your job is to make sure things function. If you're mafia, use the mafia post to discuss the game. Try to see if you can figure out the civs/other roles just by poking a round profiles, etc. Break this shit.

Civs, do the same thing. Try to figure out who mafia is. Profile stalk. Try to view user groups. Check if you can access the mafia forum. Etc.

When you die, you'll be moved into the Spectator group, and see what damage you can do from there.

Its day 1. We need a lynch.

Votes are due at midnight tomorrow, friday. So 10/25/2014 at 12:00 AM. Just about 26 hours.

Roles will be PMd.

General Discussion / Reaction System Discussion
« on: October 22, 2014, 09:52:49 am »
Ok, talk about the reaction system and what changes we can make

Theres 3 different ratings styles we can show based on your reactions, each one is weighted differently: Agree/Like/LOL worth +1, Dislike/Disagree worth -1, Insightful worth +2, and WTF, Salty, and Toasty worth 0)

Rated (total cumulative score) I.E. +2 points
Positive/Negative ratings I.E. +2 positive, -1 negative
Bar, I.E. a large bar that is filled green and red depending on your cumulative reactions

Its also possible to hide the bar, or only make it visible on the profile

So, do you like the existing reactions?

One big issue is the points. Do we even want points associated with the ratings system? One downside is that points given in secret areas (Mafia Conversations, Lover Conversations, etc) show up on the profile, even though you cant see the actual post. If Mafia like/lol/etc on posts their points will go up and people can figure it out. Neutral points/removal of points system makes sense.

Theres also talk of making disagree neutral in points instead of negative which I agree with

Mafia General / Edits vs No Edits?
« on: October 21, 2014, 07:55:20 am »
Ok, so we have some flexibility, wanted to get some discussion on edits.

We have a few options that we can enable globally

1) Disable editing completely.

2) Allow a grace period for edits (maybe 1 minute), after which your post cannot be edited any further. (No edit message shows up)

3) Allow people to edit, and the GM can enforce edits/allow them/dq for them at their own discretion

Personally, I  vote for #2, with a short grace period within like a minute that allows you to make your edits, after a minute the post is locked and you cant edit anymore
